QuiltBackingTally is an independent fabric planning studio: a small browser tool with explanations you can check at the sewing table.
Why we built this tool
A yardage number is easier to trust when it comes with a cut plan. We show panel counts, seam direction, usable-width assumptions and purchase rounding together, so you can compare the screen with the cloth in front of you.
Our editorial approach
Each guide covers a different task: the first calculation, assembly planning, fabric-width choices, mistakes or examples. Worked dimensions are illustrative rather than claims about universal quilt sizes. We distinguish the top perimeter used for binding from the larger rectangle used for backing.
Articles cite original provider guidance where relevant, while the formulas and examples are independently explained. We do not translate or republish other sites’ articles.
Original illustrations
All bundled illustrations and branding are original vector artwork. They explain the planning mood; calculator diagrams remain schematic.

We are not affiliated with fabric sellers, quilting services, WordPress or Elementor. Report a suspected error with fictional measurements, the settings used, the expected result and your browser. Use Contact without sending private records.
